  • Whisky Mules make a great drink for get-togethers at home: They’re simple to prepare, but can be impressive to look at.
  • There’s probably no better cocktail to pair with spicy foods, from curries to hot wings.

ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
J.P. Wiser’s Deluxe 1.5 oz.
Lime Juice 0.5 oz.
Ginger beer 5 oz.
Lime wedge for garnish 1
Ice cubes 4-5

instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a highball glass or julep cup (see Variations & tips) and stir (gently, to avoid spilling).
  2. Add garnish (and optional straw[s]) and serve.

Variations & tips

  • Copper mule mugs are not necessary, but they’re a nice touch — especially when you watch the condensation drip down the sides of a refreshing mule on a hot summer day. They’ available from specialty cocktail supply stores.
  • Other nice touches: crushed ice and a fresh mint sprig as an additional garnish.
  • For a sweeter, creamier Whisky Mule, use J.P. Wiser’s Vanilla Canadian Whisky instead of J.P. Wiser’s Deluxe.
  • Ginger beer is sometimes labelled as “golden (ginger) ale” at supermarkets in Atlantic Canada.
